Our Purpose

The Women's Learning Center was started in 2010 to provide women ages eighteen and older the opportunity to prepare for the HiSET (High School Equivalency Test) and receive career training at no cost. The Center offers training and encouragement from the ministry team and fellow classmates in a caring, Christian environment as students prepare for a better life for themselves and their families.

Our Services

HiSET Track

Our goal is to provide the skills necessary to earn a state-issued high school equivalency credential via the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET). We focus on one subject at a time, testing in that area when the student has mastered it.

English as a Second Language (ESL)

We work with students to gain confidence, break down communication barriers, and become successful in using English in the workplace.

Career Track

Digital Literacy Certification

We offer NorthStar Digital Literacy, a nationally recognized digital literacy certification. Areas of study include: Essential Computer Skills – Basic Computer Skills, Internet Basics, Using Email, Window OS, Mac OS. Essential Software Skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, and Information Literacy. Once students pass the NorthStar assessments, they are qualified to pursue advanced training or career pathways.

WorkPlace Certification

Our Work Essentials course teaches the skills necessary to find, apply, and land a job. Students gain in-depth knowledge on how to find a good job for their skillset, learn to craft a resume, learn how to have a successful interview, and build the skills essential to keep the job and be successful.

Bank Teller’s Certification

This certification provides critical customer service and technical skills, from handling checks and cash to processing deposits and withdrawals and more. This prepares students for the evolving role of tellers in today’s banks, as well as safety and security procedures.

Paraprofessional Certification

A paraprofessional serves as the right hand of the lead teacher in a K-12 classroom. Often working one on one or with small groups of students, a paraprofessional provides specialized support and tutoring.

Class Times

The Women's Learning Center meets year-round. Students may start at any time. Classes meet Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.

Testimony

"The Women's Learning Center is a place where you not only get an education, but the teaches truly show you God’s love and kindness. They’re like family. I will forever be grateful for their unwavering devotion and determination to see me succeed."
